YouTube and You

YouTube the premier online video sharing site on the internet has become the most successful in its genre and now they want to show you the money as well.

It is clips like this one -

and this one, awww....

and many many more that make YouTube the phenomenon that it has become.

Recent news about their revenue sharing plans with their millions of users will make a few top notch video publishers on their site a lot of money. Why?

It's quite simple actually all they did was upload videos of them doing silly things, talking about their personal lives, sing songs that they have written or other random stuff and gained a lot of loyal subscribers since the time that YouTube has been up.

How will the other sites that already offer revenue share like Revver, MetaCafe, AdBrite etc... fare against the behemoth of users that YouTube has. None of them so far have been able to match the traffic levels. So does this mean that when YouTube starts rolling out it's features to begin the revenue share will people be making more money on YouTube than on any other video sharing site.

Here are some pro's and cons  -

1. First of all YouTube is now Google and Google has Adsense which is pretty much known for having a low CPC rate than most other networks. I have run YPN and Adsense together before and sometimes one click on YPN makes me $1.50 while it can take upto 7 - 10 clicks to make that much with Adsense (this is a comparison based on the same set of keywords in a post).

2. It will probably be beta, invite only, apply to get approved or they will probably only try this with more established video uploaders rather than let everyone in on one go.

3. If you haven't started already uploading videos go ahead and start today, and get funky - the more subscribers you get the more chances you will get approved to try it out first.

4. You can become seriously rich with this method. Get your own channel on YouTube and then syndicate all your videos using SplashCast on other websites.

5. Even your dog, fish, cat, pet spider can become a star on YouTube and make you money (eventually)...seriously!

6. People will watch anything as long as you give them a laugh or break something.

When they do start rolling it out though expect a deluge of complaints by users who might have to watch ads before watching the actual videos, Google here's a piece of advice "skip ad button".
