You Want Success? – Then Prepare For It!

This post is part of "August - Make Money Online Month"

I've been preparing the new look to one of my affiliate sites and I am doing a complete revamp of the core structure. I'm not using a CMS for it, instead I use desktop software to build all my sites - as I'm comfortable with it. But what used to really get me stuck in the past was that every time I had to make a change to my site I had to re-do a bunch of pages rather than just adjust one single file.

I Was Unprepared

I'll admit I was unprepared to hit the affiliate scene when I first entered last year. Even though I was making some good strides I just couldn't advance further - because I constantly saw myself spending too much time updating content rather than promoting my site. Since I was a one man show my motivation slowly decreased, but did not die!

I then decided to make updating my site as simple as I could, and do more promotion rather than changing multiple files. So I learned a few more web technologies, sharpened by CSS skills and did a lot of custom projects. The projects brought me the cash I needed, while I was teaching myself the new skills I now posses. So basically I got paid to teach myself - how cool is that!

Now I Am Prepared

I can now update every page on my site with new products with the new site structure, over 200+ products, and not spend more than 4 - 5 hours per week doing so {once I get used to it I think I can clock in at 3 - 4 hrs} . Before I used to spend over 3 - 4 days to update the entire site - this is a HUGE improvement.

In affiliate marketing you need to spend as much time as possible promoting your products rather than checking to see if a product is still in stock or not. I choose to have a whole site dedicated to my affiliate product because it is directly connected with my profession. This way I get to learn as much as I can about it before I get into doing it for myself later on.

So as I was teaching myself new technologies for making my life on the internet easier, I am now learning as much as I can for my future venture while getting paid for it. Wouldn't it be cool if schools, colleges and universities paid you to learn. That's kinda what I am going through right now.

The lesson here for affiliate marketing is - For season and trend sensitive products it's not the amount of products that you have, it's whether you are prepared for that duration of time or not. For instance before you know it November and December will be here, this time is MEGA MONEY SPENDING time in most parts of the western world. Plus, one of the major Muslims festivals of Eid falls in October. Better get prepared quick if you want to make any money with affiliate sales for the rest of the year.

The lesson here for being successful is
- If you want success - prepare yourself for it. The more you let it know you are ready, the faster it will come.

The site is something that you probably would not be interested in, as it is clothing related. But anyhow I will share the link with you.
