Everyone who is an Apple fan boy/girl has heard of their three new products rolled into one.
They also announced the Apple TV which is cool as well and you can order it already.
The iPhone is a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device. Everything is controllable with touch and there is only one button on the phone, a huge leap for interfaces in the mobile phone market.
Now, there are two versions which IF approved by the FCC (most probably they will, if they don't...well they will) will be sold for $599 for the 8GB version and $499 for the 4GB version.
So its got the storage capacity of a iPod nano with the functionality of a mobile phone. So you still need to carry around your other 30GB iPod incase you want your entire music selection with you. Plus when people start writing software specific for the iPhone (since it runs on OS X) the memory will more or less get bloated, so you will find yourself deleting content like video and music files to free up space, until they can get more space added on it in future versions. But as of now it is not open to 3rd party software development. There is also no wireless sync between the iPhone and a computer.
The initial sales that will take place for this phone will consist mostly of die hard Apple fans, techies, reviewers and to some extent the general public. Don't expect sales to go through the roof just yet.
It will probably be at least a year to the date when the general public, the ones that are so used to their blackberry's and nokia's, will abandon their current phones and providers to think about adopting the iPhone, but not just yet...they should still be scared though.
