Performancing Partners has decided to close up shop. So if you are an advertiser or a publisher with their network its best to take down the code from your blog/site templates now. If you have an Ad already running, remaining ad time will be refunded.
Find out more here.
My thoughts - PayPerPost really messed this one up. Even though this blog takes paid opps from their network they really dropped the ball on the acquisition. Since then performancing has just been trying to regain posture but sadly I guess they won't.
Shuzak a site we reviewed some time back got dugg and their servers promptly went down. I guess the digg community needed to hear about it from a more older blog than my own for the story to hit the front page. Anyway's good for them I wish them luck. Shuzak is mostly based on Open Source software (from the article), which just goes to prove that if you have a good idea there are multiple ways of accomplishing it on the internet through means that have been made public and free to use by like minded individuals.
Two thumbs up for Open Source.
If you are thinking of getting one of these -

Then maybe you should also get yourself one of these -

The new iDJ iPod DJ Mixer
The iDJ is a 2-channel mixer that enables
mobile DJs and iPod enthusiasts to seamlessly integrate their portable
music libraries with other music and sound reinforcement
systems transforming the iPod from a personal music player into a
source playback device.

That's all folks!

New Blog Case Study: Getting Started
Hey thanks for mentioning Shuzak again. Yes, sadly, the hosting company suspended the account for 12 hr period due to the sudden surge in traffic. Anyway, we are now running on strong servers so they should get back to normal soon.
Open source has great potential. Digg.com itself is powered by the basic LAMP package that we use ourselves. It is cheap and reliable.

On the contrary with Performancing, I think PPP may have found out somethings about Performancing that were problematic and maybe not disclosed. Their metrics system was pretty good — not sure why they shut that down and to make PPF (now Scribefire) opensource was probably on of their stupider moves. They also had a good following with 28000+ subscribers from their performancing ad system but somehow failed to capitalize on that on… how I don’t know.
It seemed to me that they were hurriedly trying to sell a sinking ship and the problems had already been there way before PPP came into the picture.
I believe that the metrics system and ad system are still good products and should be pitched and repackaged to sell. Overall I think they still have a good thing going, they need to rethink rather than shut down.
You may have a point there Mark, although I think what killed them and any interest in their product from other potential buyers was the unceremonious dumping of them by PPP.
I hope that they can still get themselves out of this somehow.
@Shuzak
Good luck to you on your new servers.
Hey Ali,
I was invited to be a guest on My Point Radio tomorrow and have put all the details about the show on my blog. I would be delighted if you would listen in!
Take care
