Take Your Bookmarks With You

If you are like me and have folders, and sub-folders, of bookmarks for the plethora of sites you visit on an ongoing basis then this tool might just come in handy to you. This is a sponsored review*.

Portable-Bookmarks provides a portable bookmark manager that allows you to store your bookmarks in one location and transfer them between computers either via a USB device or a CD-R/W. Imagine your going away on vacation or a business trip or you just wanted to suggest to your friend a site you found but can't remember the URL, with a tool like this you can have all the information at hand.

Features

The software provides full support for Unicode so you can save bookmarks you see on the web in the language they are in with their special characters and such. Some of the inbuilt features include -

  • Import existing bookmarks from a variety of browsers from HTML to XML documents
  • Favicon retrieval
  • Keyword search
  • Duplicate link removal
  • Password protection
  • Drag and drop functionality

You can install it directly onto your PC or to a portable drive, the choice is yours. One cool feature I liked is that it allows you to add links real time and you can then open the link in any browser and not just the browser of your choice. So no need to copy paste URL's anymore.

The pricing is reasonable too with a personal license at $24.95 and a family license for multiple PC's at $39.95. See full pricing structure here. All future updates to the software are provided free. The present version is 2.0 and was released in April.

It is offered as a free download, with limitations on usage obviously, for you try out - you can do so here.

Presently I use Firefox to manage my bookmarks, and it does it well, but if I want to import my bookmarks into another browser elsewhere it wipes out the current bookmarks that the browser has. I would personally use portable bookmarks as I see myself going mobile with my
work in the near future and the freedom to access my bookmarks anywhere
would be a welcome enhancement to me.

Everybody Go To...Portable Bookmarks.
