I Just Love The Fact That I Don’t Have A Job!

When was the last time you said that to yourself?

If you're part of the 9 to 5 clique then you probably haven't said it all, or in fact are practically frightened at the thought of losing your job. You work tirelessly at your job, you diligently try to meet your numbers or monthly target. Whatever it is, you are not in control of you. Someone else is.

Take Control Of You Back

takecontrol.jpgYou're probably thinking to yourself not everyone can be their own boss, can they? How do I make the transition from being employed to being self-employed? Will I able to take care of myself financially, and family for those with one? These are just some of the questions that you are probably asking yourself, I know because I asked them too. The answer for all of them don't lie with me, or in this post, but with you.

I'm not going to give you an exact formula for being self employed or running your own business, on or offline. I'm not going to give you a guarantee that you will succeed, because there were many times I felt like going back to the grind, when you go solo. Because ultimately advice is only good when it's practiced.

This post is not about a set of steps so that you can find yourself to work freedom. This post is about getting YOU back into your life.

Working late? Watching TV till you doze off? Too much sugar in your diet? Not enough exercise? I could go on, but you get the picture right!

The first of many steps to real personal freedom, which is followed by professional freedom, is to get used to the fact that YOU will need to change and everything around you will need to change as well. If you cannot welcome change into your life than you simply cannot advance further.

Here's a few pointers to try and get yourself together if you are thinking of being your own boss -

  • Get a hair makeover - Seriously, I'm not kidding. I used to have long wavy hair, then one day I just realized I spent too many minutes of an hour brushing them off my face. I went crew cut six years ago.
  • Learn how to cook - If you want to be independent, you need to think independent. Learning how to cook something will help your mind think in ways you would've never imagined. Food is truly {one of} the spices of life.
  • Wear something you've never worn before - I once work a caftan type shawl thingie to college, it freaked everyone out. They loved it!
  • Research some obscure historical facts - Once you've studied something you've never heard about before, your mind will crack open and ask for more! Sometimes you can renew ideas that have been long forgotten with your own personal twist.
  • Climb something - A ladder, to the top of a building by the stairs, a hill, a mountain, whatever...- the feeling is "uplifting". {the ladder was a joke}
  • Get on a plane and don't look back - OK, maybe this is a bit extreme for most people, but I've done it. Twice! {with family} The second time brought me to my present location in Europe. Guess what? I stay 30 minutes away from the airport ;-)

When you start making a few small changes you'll realize that the bigger picture isn't that big after all. In fact it dwarfs in comparison to the one thing that all of us are constantly looking for, Peace of Mind. When the work you do becomes a chore, then it becomes a job and that's when it loses all value for you in your mind.

I do realize that some people have their dream jobs and would not trade it for anything, I congratulate them on finding their peace of mind.
