SwapShop – You Scratch My Back, I Scratch Yours

*Sponsored Presentation*

You Scratch My Back, I Scratch Yours - well OK not exactly but that's the basic premise of swapping, which is to get something in return of similar value. Sometimes though people will trade/swap a red paper clip for a house?! So it might not be a bad deal after all.

Anyway, SwapShop is an online network of people looking to swap DVDs, CDs, Video Games and Books. From the 1000's of items already listed on the site you can either sign up to begin swapping yourself or just buy swap points to get something you really really want.

The process is pretty simple -

  • You register
  • List your items
  • Wait for someone to request one of your items from you
  • Mail your item to the member and earn points
  • Spend your points on other items you want

The other route, like I mentioned above, is to just buy points and request stuff without sending out any of your own. The site is based in the UK, so my UK readers might want to check it out.

Once the item that you have sent out or received gets delivered the receiving member has to confirm it so you can receive your points.

The most popular items seem to be DVD's so this might be actually cheaper than renting from a store or getting one of those mail order deals. Your only expense here would be postage fees. Which can't be that high for a DVD.

So have a look and go swap something.

I have been using http://www.swapshop.co.uk for quite some time now. I have found it very easy to get things that I want. They even have new releases! The best part for me is that it is completely free to use. Another plus point is that if you have swapped a couple of items and are saving up for something much better than what you swapped but are still a couple of points down. You can purchase points so that you have enough to get what you want. This mix of swapping and buying points makes getting what you want a lot cheaper and faster.
