Sunday Stuff – Sept 30th 2007

You know its Sunday when you don't want to review anything, analyze any products or web services and don't feel like doing much at all. But I still got work to do, thanks to Weborithm.

Win a free t-shirt

I couldn't complete my planned 5 t shirt designs this week {work just got out of control} so I'm going to pick one commenter who posts a comment here and award him/her a tee. You win the index.tshirt. It's pretty nifty and right now it is at base price - which means I'm not making a profit on it so it's cheap.

Why do bloggers do this?

If you remember, SOS Factory did an amazing job on John Cow's character design - but there is more to the cow's theme than just a character. Just to be clear - Web/Blog Design ≠ Logo DesignCartooning. They're all separate processes. So after Tyler told me that he was having his theme done for free by someone, I told him the name of the character designer. Then...

In this post he says -

The designer I found is absolutely awesome, and I’ll definitely be using him again for any cartoon/mascot/caricature work I have in the future.

Ahem, Tyler I believe I referred him to you, you did not find him by yourself. I don't expect any credit for that, you can very well find cartoonists via Google. BUT, the low point was when he said this -

I’d highly recommend him, and he only charges $500. If you want to get hooked up with him, contact me.

Umm...SOS factory charges nowhere near that, in fact they charge $250 - $350. Tyler is not only lying to his readers, but trying to profit the cheap way. Through deception. Maybe SOS factory doesn't realize it yet, but Tyler has just tarnished their image.

What would you think when you visit SOS factory and see that they price $250 - $350 for a mascot design, but just because you mention Tyler's name you'll get jacked up to $500! WTH! Actually, Tyler you owe me $250 since I referred SOS factory to you!

Right, enough about that...but seriously, why do people do this?

My affiliate site update

I wrote at the beginning of this month on my affiliate site, I'm happy to report that it is doing better than past months. Considering, I'm not spending a euro dime to advertise it. Hopefully when I do start advertising it will do wonders for my affiliate business.

haha. I think that a lot of bloggers will start copying JohnCow Dot Com. I predict a lot of copy cats. I have seen another blogger using a cartoon logo design.

I predict, SOS Factory will make big this year and next year.

    By the way, I want a free t-shirt :D

I have been on the hunt for a logo design. But, I can’t make up my mind as to how I want it! :-( May be sometime soon!

Wow.. my odds are winning a t-shirt has never been so high. :-)

I think you must be mistaken, because I found SOSFactory myself when searching for a logo for my blog redesign.

I ended up finding it, I believe, via Google from a contest on ContestBlogger.com or BloggingTips.com giving away a free logo from SOSFactory.com. When I found out he was the one who did Kevin’s BloggingTips.com logo, I knew I wanted to use them.

I don’t remember ever hearing about SOSFactory before then, but perhaps you wrote about them in a comment on my blog or somewhere before and I didn’t see it.

Heh, that’s the honest truth… but I suspect it might not mean much since people question my morals these days.

      A. I’ve never commented on your blog.
      B. I emailed to see if you wanted your blog design done. You replied saying,

‘Wow, I’m really impressed with John Cow. But I’m having my blog theme done by someone else already’

I also pointed out courteously that I did not do the header, lest you expected that from me for any future work.

This is what you replied back –

“Oh, I was under the impression that you did the header graphic… I am not interested then unfortunately.

Anyhow, as already stated I already have another company doing my blog design anyway :)

      Good luck with your endeavors!

      Cheers, Tyler Cruz”

I think that about sums it up. Now you may have heard about SOS from someone else, but only managed to order it and get the work a few days after I told you about them? Something doesn’t sound right.

Anyway, good luck with your endeavors.
