Affiliate marketing can be like trying to find the light switch in a dark room. You either fall and trip on something before you get to it, at which point of time you have a headache, or you know exactly where to look and then...there was light!
The main reason for that is you are promoting something from someone else and you have absolutely no idea what's happening with the visitor you send towards an offer.
- Why do some offers convert for others and not for you?
- What's the best page to send traffic to for direct linking?
- The layout seems good to you, so why aren't my visitors converting?
- Is there too much fluff text to go through before the sign up form?
- etc...
All the above are huge factors to consider, not one is less important than the other. You only know if something is working when you log in to see how much money you've spent and how much you've made back, or not! This is why taking the initiative to promote home grown offers can lead you to a better understanding of how a visitor reacts to different forms of interactive elements in a website or a sales page. Now I know for most people it is not feasible to go ahead and set up all this, especially if they don't have the time to learn HTML, copywriting and all the other details that need to be taken care of. Most of all not everyone has a home grown offer to sell.
That is where my I come in. I'm going to start a series of posts throughout the month of May using one of my own products as a base to try and make my PPC campaigns work as effectively as possible and generate revenue. The same tips and methods can then be applied by you to do the same. Naturally with any other product of your choosing.
During the next month I'll make various types of landing pages, PPC campaigns, keyword research and copywriting makeovers to see what works best and what doesn't {for a product I already have}. This will help me perfect my skills in this genre, I'm still learning everyday, and with the added discussion from you hopefully all of us will be left a little more wiser as to how we fare on the web with affiliate marketing.

A word to the wise, any income you generate from your business for the first few months should be turned around and put back into the advertising of your website. This will benefit you greatly in the end. Thank you for sharing great info.
