Monitor your site in Google with Free Monitor

Trying to make the most of search engine traffic is the best form of free and organic growth that a website can hope to achieve. But with the millions of websites out there competing against you it can be quite a battle.

Most webmasters livelihood are based around 3 companies search tools - Google, MSN and Yahoo. With Google being the most prominent of them. It is no secret that your Google ranking can literally make or break your site and so far there isn't any search engine out there that is even trying to take up the space that Google is now dominating.

I got a chance to review this product called Free Monitor for Google from Clever Stat, a company that makes search engine related software Free Monitor is one of them.

First of all the software is Free so you can't go wrong there. Here's a breakdown of what it does.

Say you have set up a website and want to find out exactly where you are in the SERP's for your specified keyword. You can also check where you are in relation to other sites that you are competing against. With the ability to export the results you can store them and compare results as you see your site increase in placement and see how far you have progressed.

I tried it out and this is what I found, I looked for the search term Web 2.0 blog

So as you can see I am ranked 23rd in Google for that keyword. The downside here is that it doesn't query MSN or Yahoo. A small percentage of people still do use those search engines and in fact they have been known to offer a slightly higher conversion rate than Google.

The tool also lets me target the results by country, I can add as many keywords as I want and search up to 10,000 results, though it can really slow down if you do so. It keeps the results until you delete them yourself.

For a more robust monitoring software you might want to take a look at their Accurate Monitor for Search Engines.  It checks the big three engines, queries both free and paid listings, keeps a ranking history, shows the top ranking websites with snippets and many more features.

The Free Monitor is a fair enough piece of software for the $0 price and for more robust users and business types I would imagine it would not fit your needs. In which case Clever Stat does offer you other options, but at a price.

I’m using this service to monitor my website’s rank – http://monitor.mazecore.com . They provide position and uptime monitoring with alerts, but rank monitoring on free account is enough for me. I recommend this service with free tariff
