I wrote about Jaman around the beginning of the month and I did happen to download their player and install it as they are offering free rentals for movies available in your area during the beta.
I watched "Inside Iraq: The Untold Stories" a documentary film by Mike Shiley. Shiley traveled throughout the country of Iraq for two months, filming unique stories the national media ignores, to show us what life in Iraq is really like, beyond the media and military spin. Rather than trying to push a political point of view, Shiley let his camera roll, catching a multitude of real-life moments that tell it like it is.
I let the video download in the background and frankly I don't know when it finished downloading as when I checked back the next day 1.3GB was done. That's good. I didn't feel any lag in my internet browsing speed.
I have to say the video quality was great. Since it was a free rental I have the option of buying it for $4.99 and view it whenever I want otherwise the rental expires in 7 days (or 6 days), I'm sorry I couldn't take a screen grab. The sound was good as well, of course you may have different results depending on your speakers.
So if you haven't tried Jaman yet, give it a whirl. World Cinema is huge place and a great place to start if you don't know much about other parts of the world think of it as educational entertainment, except for the Indian movies - Indians don't really break out in song and dance at the drop of a hat, change clothes and jump countries miraculously while singing. Just so you know.
