Apparently, this is a very big deal.
I personally like to spread the butter on one side and the jelly on the other and just smash them both together. I also like to put more on the inside than the outside of the bread. It's messy eating a sandwich that has the condiments flowing over, and I usually have a remote control or mouse next to me while I'm eating so that in turn makes them sticky as well.
