I had written previously about 5 ways to help the environment and thought that this would be a good follow up post to it since I've been getting quite a few environmental related search hits to that topic.
GreenOptions.com is a website/blog/forum/guide and wants to be able to give you a place to sort out the "flash from the trash" as they put it. Taken into consideration that I myself am an environmental oriented person and try to do my best to make whatever difference I can. So how can Green Options: Greening the Good Life show me how to do it more effectively?
Well first of all looks are very important and the site wins on that regard as it is clearly laid out and navigating is a breeze. The section that I liked the most was the Green Report area where you are shown a lot of headlines to new and updated stories, although some of them do tend to veer of the environment. You can click to read more and even comment on the story if you like. For me this looks inviting to come back and check time and again as I can see a lot of information on one page and decide what I want to read. Scrolling below you will also find a huge resource of websites that are environmental and news related.
The site does show promise of being a valuable resource as it builds up. With the incorporation of a wiki the content is up to the community to create in their Green Life Guide. From topics ranging from Business to Fashion the Guide provides some good information. The work is licensed under a Creative Commons License as well.
Our lives can be affected by simple changes that we can make to our daily routine of energy consumption, waste reduction, using alternative energy sources and even the most simplest of things like switching off that light in the bathroom when you're done - small numbers add up to big sums.
From their blog -
Reducing paper use is probably the most important step we can take to
save trees and resources and prevent waste. In the office, this means
printing on both sides of each page, reusing all the paper we can, and
simply not printing as much stuff.
I used to do that when I worked as an Office Manager.
Green Options is probably one place where you can start and get a message for yourself as well out to others.

Neat site, thank you. If you would like to reduce paper and clutter in your own home, check out GreenDimes, a service to reduce your junk mail AND plant a tree for you every month. So if you want less unsolicited credit card offers, fewer catalogs (tell GreenDimes which catalogs you don’t want and keep the ones you do want), and a whole lot less junk mail, visit GreenDimes. It’s a dime a day or $36 a year, and that includes your 12 trees
Cheers,
Jill
I’ve to confess that i typically get bored to read the whole thing but i believe you may add some value. Bravo !
