Furl – New and Improved

Furl has improved their bookmarking layout with a new revamped design. Making it easier for users to create and find topics along with updated browser buttons and toolbar.

Furl is a free social bookmarking website that allows members to store searchable copies of web pages and share them with others. You get 5 gigs of space that you can use to store everything and anything wrapped up in binary codes (that would be web pages). Additionally, you also have the option of assigning each bookmark a rating, keywords (which are given greater weightage while searching), personal comments, clippings, and an option of private or public storage. A recommendation list is shown to each user, based on the sites already saved by you.

Considered one of its main features, Furl also archives a copy of each
page that a user bookmarks, making it accessible even if the original
content is modified or removed.

You can get bookmarklets or even a Firefox extension for it that makes saving web pages easier. I've used it occasionally to my dirty work of bookmarking until I found digg as a great way to read about new stuff as well as bookmark tutorials, news articles, cool stuff in my digg profile. But I might go back to trying furl again with their new design layout for bookmarking.

You can save the URL, Title, Rate the site or item, Categorize it via Topics, Mark as Public, Private, Read or Unread, any Comments, a Clipping (a text summary of the item) and lastly Keywords.

Everybody Go To Furl.

  1. Hey – great weblog, just looking around some blogs, seems a fairly great platform you are making use of. I’m currently using WordPress for several of my websites but looking to change 1 of them over to a platform similar to yours like a trial run. Something in specific you’d suggest about it?
