FoundYouOnline is a new dating and personals site and asked for a full critique in their sponsored review* and give feedback on their website/service, so here goes.
Upon entering FoundYouOnline you see that the site is very plainly laid out and might probably not appeal to the mass amount of people who are used to shiny logos, gradients and patterned backgrounds in the Web 2.0 movement. But then I thought about Plentyoffish.com, a dating site as well, that makes one guy a lot of money and is pretty plain and un-shiny as well. FoundYouOnline though does not monetize anywhere on the front page with any form of advertising.
The site in my opinion definitely needs some work on the graphical aspect of it. Users nowadays are wising up to having nice looking interfaces and I believe if FYO would spruce up their site a little it could make a lot of difference in user sign ups. Also, I would suggest them to reduce the number of links they have on their homepage as its just too many links for a person to comprehend.
Their main services are free dating, free classmates search and military friends search and signup is free. The site allows a user to -
- upload up to 25 photos per section
- add video links
- search for friends and dating profiles
- contact other members and
- send and receive messages from other members
Functionality wise the site seems to work well with its search functions. Something though that interested me was the military friends search. With a lot of overseas U.S activity lately it might seem a lucrative area to be in.
Their classmates search lists over 150,000 plus schools in the U.S and I'm sure it would be fun if you found somebody you went to school with on their site. Then you could literally say, "Hey! I found you online!"
