Here's an amazing example of efficiently using space for maximizing utility. Gary Chang, an architect living in Hong Kong, re-modeled his 330 square feet apartment to transform into whatever he chooses - simply by sliding walls and panels back and forth.
He can have up to 24 different settings and calls it the "Domestic Transformer".
I had no idea space was so hard to come by in Hong Kong, I guess once you are pushed to your limits you start figuring out new ways to make the best of what you have. Gary should start selling his ideas to other parts of the world where space is in short supply.
