Read My Guest Post On Unusal Life

I had a little competition to write a guest post, on another blog, a while back. The winner was Marlow Harris of UnusualLife. Since her blog is based on architecture, homes and unusual related things I decided to do a post based on the history, and a little bit about the architecture of Golconda Fort, from my city of origin.

The city of Hyderabad got it’s name from a local girl known first as Bhagyamati whom the ruler of Golconda, Quli Qutub Shah, fell in love with. The city was then named Bhagyanagaram after her, and later on to Hyderabad after Bhagyamati converted to Islam and adopted the name Hyder Mahal.

Read more about the city of Hyderabad and it's history. There are some pictures as well that I shot myself, it's worth a look.

It was fun writing this piece, since I've never written anything historical before. I think I'll probably do another one of these contests later on. And no, my name does not come from the city - it is of Middle Eastern origin.

Excellent post and even better than that the amazing pics! Unusual Life got an unusual post.

I visited Hyderabad in 1990 for tourism and remember very very less except all that we captured on Camera.
