I've talked previously about the importance of increasing your search engine rankings and the way they can impact your business. Sometimes people tend to forget the impact a high ranking in a natural organic search can have on their business momentum as they have never optimized their site to experience it.
Good SEO is not a problem as long as you focus yourself on what you want to be noticed for. If you plan on making yourself the top searched page for thousand's of keywords guess what it's not going to happen. A reasonable amount to consider are anywhere from 100 - 300 keywords, you have to focus your traffic as people are performing more focused searches.
After reading the customer testimonials over at eTraffic Jams about the impact some good old website optimization did for the owners of the respective websites you can only sit back and marvel at how much of a difference it can make.
For example their client furnitureesuperstore.com which deals with discount furniture which is a very competitive area got a 161% increase in traffic from 80 keywords that show up in the top 10, a very good achievement. When you think about it 80 keywords is not a lot of keywords especially when they are so closely related.
Another client CCK9.com which provides specially trained personal protection dogs, sounds like a very competitive market, frankly this is the first time I heard about it myself. You can imagine the people that look for these kind of services know what they want and are willing to spend the money for it. When a high end dog costs $18,000 - $50,000 you better make sure your search engine optimization puts you in the top 10 SERP's for those keywords.
So moral here is to get your site optimized, professionally if you have to because getting to the top can be quite a battle but once you're there it's pretty sweet.

It is important to focus on a keywords. I Also say a well designed template optimize with robot.txt and tags can really improve search engine listing.. (speaking from my own experiences) Plus using the correct mark-up in images as well and links..
