BlogRush – Gone Too Soon…

...from my blog that is. Tons of bloggers went ahead to blog, sign up, install and promote BlogRush for the past couple of days. I did too. Actually I'm blogging about them after I have removed the widget from blog.

So far, I'm not that impressed with the service. Here are my reasons -

  1. I'm not a fan of pyramid scheme type services for generating traffic.
  2. Sooner or later BlogRush will look to monetize their widget, as they have already stated by letting bloggers buy more syndication credits. Which mean you'll probably make like $0.0001 of each headline impression. clap....clap...
  3. This will serve mostly high traffic blogs more than others. The possibilities of building a significant pyramid down line are very slim for 95% of the blogosphere. Which means only the bigger blogs, those that have installed the widget, and early adopters will truly see whatever benefit comes out of it.
  4. Click through traffic has already been reported by many bloggers, it is more or less abysmal.
  5. The widget is open to abuse, in fact it is being abused. John Reese has already reported it. I really can't hold that against BlogRush because even Google Adsense gets abused to this day. So not really a minus point here.
  6. Does auto refreshing your blog every 30 seconds increase your syndication credits?

More or less it doesn't really serve any purpose for me now. I'm not going to get into a rat race to optimize each and every single post title for a better chance at the average 2% CTR rate.

I just got an email from blogrush outlining the “abuse” issues and poor quality blogs and what they are goinf to do about it – So hopefully this should improve results.

Yeah, I am going to give it like a month or so to and see how it goes

  3. I believe it has some serious potential. If it brings in several more readers and potential buyers or referrals for various programs, it didn’t hurt a site or blog that much to be using it. Until I see the guys like Chow, Rowse and Shoemoney getting rid of it and saying they think its garbage, BlogRush stays for me :)

I just removed the widget from my blog because it wasn’t loading. I just can’t have a big error space on my blog, it’s tacky. F that widget!

While the potential’s there for people wanting to network and get traffic it would have been better served as an AIR app.

With the amount of ‘niche’ blogs out there in each category and posting frequency, the chances of a person’s blog being visible out of all of those is pretty low when you look at the big picture. There’s also the fact each minute adds more…and more…and more entries to be viewed.

Has anyone come across info of how long posts are kept in que for display or max age of a post to be displayed is?
