Time and again you are faced with the dilemma of what to write? Like right now, I have absolutely nothing to write about, well I do but some other stuff has come up, so I thought it would be nice to do a quick short post about 5 ways to make sure you never run out of blogging ideas.
Read - Reading other people's blogs can sometimes give you ideas for something to write on your own. I only have like 20 or so RSS feeds in my feed reader. But I do visit a lot of sites that I have bookmarked and do so on a daily basis, sometimes twice or more. I am still a bookmarker rather than an RSS reader fanatic.
Reading other people's post gives me a good perception of where the next hot topic can come up from and catch onto it before anybody else does. Of course reading magazine, books, weekly's and the daily newspaper couldn't hurt either.
Get out of your chair - I spend way too much time in this chair and my body is expanding at an unhealthy rate, I only weigh 67 kilos {147 lbs}, but the new weight gained is at the wrong places. Sometimes I just get up and go to the market and buy a few grocery items and usually the walk and shopping give me some extra ideas to make money on the internet and I come back all renewed with enthusiasm. Maybe it's because I see the money being swiped away that it makes me want to think of new ways to get it back, hmm...
Let the blood flow to your head - Lay back on a recliner the other way, if you have one, or just use your couch and let the blood rush to your head. Stay like that for 20 mins, make sure it is quiet around and there are no electronic gadgets turned on - not even the stereo. Silence is the best form of music there is. It lets you completely forget about everything and invigorates you with a calm that you probably don't get to experience too often. If you fall asleep...sweet dreams
Most of the time to answer questions you have you just need some peace and quiet along with some blood flow to those noodles.
Watch some TV - Channels like Discovery, National Geographic, Travel Channel and more have so much variety on them. They are basically teeming with ideas for bloggers to write on. They have shows that are geared towards so many different types of interests that is basically impossible to NOT find something to watch. Oh! and when you find something throw away the daggum remote and watch instead of channel surfing.
Revisit yourself - Browse through your archives and see for yourself what you were thinking a month, two or more months back? You can always rewrite a few posts that you wrote sometime ago with the perspective you have now { good strategy for search engine rankings }. Like I found this post that I wrote last year called, What is web 2.0? and also this post about Yoosi which is not up anymore - went in the dead pool, they did. I remember the whole debate about Web 2.0 being discussed like a couple of weeks ago I should have revisited the post then, but oh well.
So by revisiting yourself you can dig up old things and make them fresh again.
Now that I've said that, time for me to get back to work. I think I'll let the blood flow to my head later on, before I call it a night.

I agree with you. Most of the time, it is best to get out of your chair and look around you. So many things are happening the same time, and you would definitely find some inspiration out there somewhere.
You’re absolutely right – when I get stuck it helps to just get up and go across the street for some coffee. I also tend to bring along a notebook, and write down ideas as they come up.
Good tips !
I believe constant reading and research are very important. And not only online. I read at least 10 magazines each month to stay up to date in my field. But I do it because I love it, not as a chore
Yeah, it gets really bad when friday and the weekends come. I’m like oh great, what do I write about?
Watch some TV, do something else and then slowly the ideas start rolling.
It’s been such a long time since I’ve come to visit!
For someone who has nothing to write about you have written something extremely insightful and yes for me creativity does come from activity. Seems that each time I am busy reading an article, someone’s post or even washing the dishes LOL I get sidetracked with an idea for my own posts. At that point I write it down cause my memory fails me with my busy schedule.
Hope you are well and thanks for sharing your wisdom Ali!
Most of my ideas come while surfing online or driving in the car. I write down any thoughts, but I also use the sound recorder on my cell phone alot. Many people forget their phones have that feature.
We all are susceptible to falling into a rut where you can’t think of ideas or feel burnt out. The key is making sure it doesn’t affect your blogging schedule, and these ideas are all good ways to make sure your ideas stay fresh.
I would add another one to your list – monitor the press wires over at PRNewswire or PRWeb. They are full of good content about products // companies // services // trends in your niche — just search around and you’re sure to find some ideas to get you back in gear.
