Starting New Projects

Being a fledging online entrepreneur has it’s drawbacks. I keep thinking of new things to do as the entry barrier is virtually nothing for me – design, marketing, content etc…are all things that I’ve spent individually time on online. So I find myself starting a new project every couple of months.

I couldn’t even do half the things I do today if I had a normal 9-5 job, then again I would probably have more capital to invest in my “startups”. But I’m not that upset about it. I frankly couldn’t see myself going to work for someone else. Unless the internet itself imploded, which is well – highly unlikely.

So as I embark on yet another project this week I look back and see how much I’ve accomplished over the last 3 – 4 years I’ve been online. I haven’t been able to crack the ‘Top 100′ list anywhere, as well that was never the objective while starting anything. The objective has always been, and will continue to be, to build something that is sustainable, have continuation scope and able to manipulated to serve a different purpose.

For instance, after launching WP Auctions I’ve seen it used by people to run charity auctions and even a full auction site type set up. For me it is a success, and I think I’ve only spent like $50 in marketing expenses to make a small, yet steady, income channel. We are now moving onto the next phase for WP Auctions and I see it’s future quite bright.

As I see my whiteboard and look at the deadlines I’ve placed on myself I have found that the mechanism of development moves at a completely different level. I highly suggest you get yourself one, even if you are a new blogger.

Here’s one more tip if you are embarking on a new journey yourself, don’t pack too much. You can always get shampoo where you’re going. If you know what I mean.
