Are “A-List” Bloggers Ignoring You?

You take the time to write a well thought out email to your peers, the ones that have been blogging in your niche for as long as you can remember, in the hope that they will take notice of you and perhaps even mention you in a blog post or link to one of your articles…or gasp!, even subscribe to your RSS feed.

Then nothing happens…

This probably sounds familiar to a lot of people who are either new to blogging or even those that are seasoned but not so well connected. The drawback here is mostly due to no personal contact.

Recent blog expo’s, industry meet up points like SXSW and other such events have always helped other bloggers who were starting out get beyond others who started at the same time as them. The probability of getting noticed by other popular bloggers, and making an impact, is much higher at a meet like this than sending them email upon email.

It’s either that or a slew of social media successes that can lead you to get noticed. Let’s face it, the world of blogging is all about getting noticed and being read. It also requires a certain bit of charisma and personal appeal that many people, sadly, don’t exhibit via their writing in their blogs even though they may posses an insane amount of it in their personality.

The pool of bloggers that have gotten popular solely because of their writing is very few and far between - sometimes it’s also a bit of luck and being in the game for a longer period of time.

The possibility that your blog will get read and linked to without a solid networking plan in mind is virtually nil. So the next time you find that other popular bloggers never email you back, or even acknowledge your emails, don’t worry that’s only because everyone out there is emailing them too. Those bloggers are human after all and they cannot reply to everyone.

You might get lucky one day though, so never stop bugging them. Remember persistence does pay off.

  1. Nice post Hyder. I agree with you, the same principles that are true with business are true with blogging. 90 percent of new businesses fail in the first year. The reason for this is either lack of experience, lack of advertising or simply losing interest after realizing it takes a lot of work to run a business. You’ll never be successful if you give up…that’s a motto to live by.

  2. Yep, that’s true James.

I have around 4 years of online experience now and every time I look around something new is happening, which changes the game all over again.

  6. For some point in your post, I agree with that. But I have some opinion that are different from you:

    - Be the first
Some of successful (A-List) blogger are start from a long time ago, when blog is so new.

    - You are known as expert in the real world
If you are an expert, then everybody will trust and follow you.

    - You are celebrities that are using blogs.
I think you already know what i mean, celebrity are loved or hated by everyone.

    - Create “porn” related content.
Last thing i heard, porn is on number 2 on search queries.

    - Publishing Hoax.
Somehow, public loves hoax. remember steve jobs died post?

I think thats it for now
