To Tweet Or Not To Tweet?
I’ve gone through many days where I have experienced an absolute vacuum of ideas for blog posts. It’s usually not that hard, but sometimes you just don’t know what to write anymore. But now there’s a new dilemma - the Twitter dilemma! What exactly should I tweet about and what should I not? It’s not like I’m at a shortage of random thoughts, because anything goes here. So where does one draw the line?
Checking my followers timeline I see that a lot of people are pointing to their own posts, linking to other people’s posts, saying stuff that they’re doing and just having regular conversations with others. It’s fun to watch and it doesn’t really matter if you have anything to say because you can just comment on someone else’s tweet and take it from there.
So what do I tweet about? Well, sometimes I say good morning, sometimes I point to my blog posts, sometimes I give a reply back to others and sometimes I just say random stuff happening around me. Naturally I don’t report every whiz, bang and crack that happens because that would get boring pretty quick! But some people do, which is OK to a certain extent
Some people like to use their twitter followers to “monetize” their sites/blogs/etc… - yeh whatever - LAME. I laugh at all those posts that try to give you tips and tricks to “increase” your twitter followers - I mean can anything happen on the internet without bloggers clanking bells to attract the townspeople around them.
Seriously, it just makes you like the Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohans of the internet. Get real people. Just don’t flash us with underskirt shots please.
So what do you tweet and not tweet about?

I usually tweet about interesting thoughts I have throughout the day. My rule of thumb is, if no one who follows me would be interested in what I say, then I shouldn’t say it.
Yep, same here Michael.
