The A-List, Part 4: Challenge The Status Quo

In this last and final part of my “A-List” series, I’m going to tell you something that probably most of you won’t agree with. Which is fine, because the 20% that do agree with it will end up being the trendsetters and lead the rest of the 80%.

If you can’t say anything controversial, then don’t say anything at all.

But didn’t Bambi say the opposite? If you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all. Yes Bambi did, but fictitious fairy tale stories out of Disney aside, you make a bigger splash if you say something that challenges the status quo.

Against All Odds

Popular notions are usually set in place by people who say they’ve done a lot of research and blah, blah, blah etc…I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve read that someone has come from behind and debunked a previous research study or similar. The same applies in blogging today.

The innumerable tips you read online today will be worth absolutely ZERO by the end of 2008. Last year, and for many years before, it was all about SEO and getting high search engine rankings, this year it’s all about getting on the frontpage of digg or getting royally stumbled. Next year the game will change completely and a whole new set of factors will be in place for gaining online momentum.

It’s inevitable, even Google can’t help it {of course unless they buy all these web properties}.

So where does that leave you in all this. Well, if you’re serious about yourself you will think outside the box and think up new ways to do things. Forget about every tip you may have read online and build your own set of must know methods and rules. Write about them once they’ve been tried and tested, and you’ve milked every last cent, and are those methods are practically worthless. That’s what most of the tips you read today are, worthless. Mostly because you will never act on them anyway.

A lot of the best tips and tricks are well guarded secrets that you will never read in any ebook, that you will never learn in any seminar, that no blogger in their right mind would share with you online.

What, you thought they would tell you everything? Heh…Welcome to the internet.
