Item Of The Week - March 8th, ‘08

I’m starting a new weekly series called “Item Of The Week” where I will talk about one particular product that I’m just itching to get my hands on.

Ever since I got myself a new computer with a 19″ screen I’ve been waiting, collecting money rather, to get myself a new monitor. Presently I have the below set up -

I used to have the monitor on the raised table on the right, which unsurprisingly gave me a royal pain in the neck. I still don’t know why I ever put it there in the first place! Sometimes I just do the stupidest things. :P

Anyway, I think when I do get my second monitor, I’ll go for a widescreen one like this one below from HP. {RSS readers link - Flat Screen Monitors}

I’ll probably replace it with my current one and put the one I have right now on the top right. So I can transfer my email, IM, testing windows over there, out of sight, and just have my main work applications in front of me. That should kick my productivity up a notch or two. I’ll probably move my speakers down then as we regularly watch movies on my computer, as it’s in the bedroom, so we can have a more “cinematic” experience with the widescreen and all.

So yeah, that’s my workstation as you can see. I didn’t show my chair, as its nothing special. On the left you’ll see some notes hanging, those are actually my goals for 2008. The calendar on top has pictures of tasty deserts. No wonder I eat too many sweets. I’m actually thinking of getting a cabinet new house so I can get my own workspace and spread things out more. So hopefully I’ll just end up with two nice shiny monitors on my desk with nothing else in sight.

That’ll be the day!

  1. hey, it is your workstation. look nice. :)

  2. That is indeed a nice workstation. Oh btw, when you get the new monitor don’t get rid of the old one. You could set up both monitors as dual desktop. This would create more desktop space, and you could drag windows between two screens. Just my 2 cents. :smile:
