This is one opportunity that will come around only once every four years, blogging on the 29th of February I mean. You know I once had someone fooled for like 5 minutes by telling them that my birthday was on the 30th of February. People can be so gullible sometimes.
I wonder if my blog will be around 4 years from now? I can’t believe I’ve already been doing this for almost 2 years! A lot has changed since the first couple of blog posts I made. I never knew that I could leverage this blog to start and learn so many things in my life.
I guess now is a good time as any to make a 4 year plan - till the next leap year. Hopefully if this blog is still up by then reflect back on it and see how much I’ve accomplished. I’m going to make this more of a personal self type goals about stuff that I’ve never done in my life.
You should do the same.
4 Year Plan | 2008 - 2012
- Buy a car - Yeah, I still don’t have a car. But first…
- Get a drivers license - You see I kind of always enjoyed the flexibility of public transport, not having to wait in line to buy gas, not setting off pollutants from another car into the atmosphere etc… But now since we’ve got hybrids coming out everywhere might as well jump in behind the wheel. {hopefully this year, will be the year}
- Buy a house - A family of four needs more space than a small crampy apartment.
- Go on a Safari - Always wanted to go to the Serengeti and watch lions just laze around, or hunt for that matter.
- Set up a proper home office - Right now I have a desk in my bedroom, which is nice but not ideal. I guess once I get my house I can tick this one off as well.
- Summer of Adventure - As my kids get bigger I want to take them on an adventure while they’re minds are still ripe for immense information absorption. You know the backpacking, fishing for food, outdoorsy type of adventure. Still have to wait at least 2 more years so my daughter gets into the toddler years. I got 4 years so that’s OK.
- Learn a new sport - I want to try and get a go at either scuba diving or golf or any other sport that can be both creative and relaxing. Though I’ve heard golf can be frustrating too.
- Learn a new language - I always wanted to get fluent in conversational Arabic. Presently I can read and write, just can’t make head or tail of it.
Well there’s probably more stuff I can add to this. I’ll probably write it down later on and place it in my personal goals folder.
You got any Leap Year plans?

Damn, didn’t even realize this was the one day that I’d not blog again for four years (if the blog is even running then
). Silly me!
I want a car… too young to drive. Ah well eh. Anything apart from mini-golf is a pain, seriously… the pros do it well, but you need tonnes of practise to become even half decent at it.
Btw, I’ve taken a look at WP Auctions (and bid too) - I’m assuming it’s owned by you, but anyways - any plans to allow a customizable one that can just be plugged into a post through HTML? My sidebar is cluttered enough, and it would be easier to just dedicate a post to it. Email me if you are, auctioning off a blog review seems like it would be fun

Jason, Yes I own WP Auctions.
Right now we don’t have a version that can be put in the posts pages. But we might bring it out in the future alongwith a lite and premium version of the plugin.
So keep an eye out for that.

re: camping. If you can, try to make the first outing somewhere close to home where you can flee if need be. We took 2 year old Emma out last summer a couple of times, and the second time was definitely better thought out. We were close enough to home to load her in the car and drive home so she could sleep in her bed at night if she wanted to, yet still enjoy the day “camping.” I think at 2 it was just too much for her (biggest memory of the first attempt: sobbing as it poured rain, “I wanna go home!”) to put in a full day and then deal with the chill and discomfort of tenting it.
I already have Memorial Day reservations, so I’m curious how she likes it at 3. It’s definitely worth the effort!
