Be A Rockstar Freelancer

How To Be A Rockstar FreelancerFreelanceSwitch.com, one of my favorite blogs, released their flagship book - How To Be A Rockstar Freelancer sometime back and I’ve had the pleasure to receive a review copy thanks to Collis. The book is written by Collis and Cyan Ta’eed the brains behind a host of web properties, and longtime freelancers themselves.

As many of you may, or may not, know I myself am a freelancer and having gone through the e-book, which is also available in paperback, I can safely say that here is some gold information I wish I had when I started out 4 years ago as a freelancer. My tenure as a freelancer has been an on and off one as I kept having some new ventures always popping up, anyway…

212 Pages Of Rock Solid Advice

The length of the content may seem intimidating to a few people, but if you are planning on being a full time freelancer, or are transitioning into one, this book will just make your time and money well worth it. There are actually a lot of steps in the book that I myself did not do in the beginning of my freelance career, such as branding.

I cannot stress how important that one aspect of your freelance life will be. Plus, it helps you get your foot in the door to bigger contracts. Rather than getting bid down by someone else half way around the world on job boards, you could contracts worth much much more simply by having your own business card or website.

Going deeper into the book you can’t help but notice all the small little snippets of advice scattered in virtually every page. I wish I had some advice about the over-delivering part when I started out. I got gullible and always did everything for this one client, no matter what happened. “Occasionally” is the keyword there that I did not think of that point of time. Oh well…

Timeless Advice

If there is one thing the book promises to be it is a timeless piece of advice that any freelancer at any stage in their career can benefit from. If you think you know it all, I still think it’s a good read.

So if you’re ready to be a Rockstar Freelancer get this book. Then, sit back and watch everyone else scramble to work in the morning, while you take those extra 15 minutes (or more) under the cover ;-) .
