Your Blog Is a Personal Reputation Meter

Posted by Hyder on November 21st, 2007

Using your blog to build a repute is probably the best thing that you can do for yourself. I used to blog under the alias “Ali J” for quite sometime till I revealed my real name. Now that I did, I’m glad because for the future release of my web products it’s good to have a reputation to bank on, along with a real name as well.

One of the first was my web design company, Weborithm.com. It would have probably not sat well with potential clients that a blogger who blogs under a pseudonym now is also offering blog design services as well…under an alias again. Having already built up a sizable reputation with this blog I knew that the decision to be anonymous for any longer would simply be silly.

This is not to say that people who ghost write, go by pseudonymns etc…are not successful. In fact some of them are even more successful than those who use their real names. But to each their own.

By the way I’m out of my normal country of blogging. So posting will be a little light over here for the next week or so.

But, there’s plenty to read in my archives….

No wonder. I found your via Shoemoney’s blog. But it was under a name of Ali. When I got here, I saw Hyder. Made me puzzled. Well, this sorts it out. Nevertheless, I liked the blog, and decided to subscribe to the RSS feed. Good on ya Hyder.

I agree. When I purchased my website I couldn’t get the exact domain I wanted because someone had already taken the condensed wilcoxstudios…so I had to buy the hyphen version. I knew when buying that domain that I wanted instant credibility and knew that potential clients would associate the domain directly with me.

My blog is another story…actually I write for two blogs but they are both different. However only my investing blog shows my real name. My other blog doesn’t show a name at all.
