Guess Who Recommends Text-Link-Ads?

  • Posted under: Internet on November 3, 2007

I was browsing around inside Text-Link-Ads when I saw something that intrigued me under the “Make Money” tab. I’ve never looked around there and thought it was about time I did. Quite interestingly, Who do I see? – None other than ProBlogger Darren Rowse himself recommending them to all the publishers that browse that page via a video.

Now, he did state in a recent post that he hadn’t been selling them for months when his pagerank had fallen to a 4. Of course, he almost immediately sprung back up again {perks of being well known, I guess}. I do not have anything against him, it’s just funny to see someone such as Darren on their publisher page – especially since he was mistakenly penalized for selling text-links.

If you’re not in the loop, one of the main reasons why a lot of blogs were handpicked to get their PageRank dropped was largely because of selling text links or their association with TLA themselves. Seeing this video…well, just tickled me.

  1. yep – that video was recorded almost a year ago now – at a time that I did use them extensively and at a time where many small bloggers were making very good money from TLA. I guess times change – but what we say on the web lives on :-)

  2. interesting video indeed

  3. Even though it is an old video it makes me laugh that it is still on Text-Link-Ads website even though Darren Rowse has changed his tune on TLA.

  5. Thanks for commenting Darren. Like I said in my post it just tickled me to see that video, plus you looked so jubilant about them I couldn’t help myself. :D

Hand picked? i really doubt so.

  7. They were definitely not handpicked. It was an automated process. Only those blogs that got their rankings back after a couple of days might have been hand picked later on, as they had been falsely penalized.
