Televisions shows and Hollywood movies are known to almost constantly take real life occurrences of events and translate them into primetime or box office shows. We’ve already seen movies and TV shows based around the internet on a variety of topics. So it was only natural that sooner or later blogging, something a lot of us do, became the subject for a TV show.
Gossip Girl is an American teen drama airs on the CWTV network. As you can guess it has a lot of the usual teen dilemma’s of sex, drugs, boyfriends/girlfriends etc…albeit the twist here is that there is an omniscient character who runs a blog, aptly named “Gossip Girl” narrating out the show. Serena van der Woodsen ( Blake Lively) and Blair Waldorf ( Leighton Meester) are best friends and the show revolves around them and their friends. While Gossip Girls blog provides all the latest ‘gossip‘ the show takes on various issues of these teens growing up living in New York’s Upper East Side attending elite schools.
I’ve glanced at a lot of the celebrity blogs and obviously everything is gossip based, of course what else would it be - they’re celebrities! I think the idea of integrating blogging into a TV show could have some great impact for the blogosphere in general. But, if people want to read, or set up, blogs to find out gossip about other people as a result of watching Gossip Girl on The CW I hope it gives future bloggers a better impression of blogging than just that.
Have you ever spread gossip on your blog, About your friends? Your colleagues? Your fellow bloggers? Has anyone of my U.S readers seen this show? Let’s get some gossip going here!
