How do you know if you are doing something right on your blog? How do you measure yourself against the rest of the bloggers out there. Most of whom practically live of their blogs, are probably more influential, have a bigger readership and have stats that would put you to shame.
I went ahead and scrutinized myself to see what are the major differences I see with my blogging today as compared to a few months ago. Here is how I noticed I am doing something right -
- My blog gets searched for by name on search engines - A couple of hits every few days come to my blog for terms like “everybody go to blog” - That’s kinda cool!
- Readers send you emails saying - “I thought you would’ve reviewed the product more in depth”. 0_o
- Your subscriber count goes up even if you don’t post at your normal frequency.
- People ask if I would like to write guest posts.
- Other bloggers link to my write ups as “a good read” or “in reference” to what they are discussing.
- You get listed in the blog roll of other bloggers, without even asking!
- More spammy comments
Apart from these there are a few more other things, but the above points are more prominent than the rest. What differences have you noticed since you started blogging, differences that tell you that you have been doing something right.
Whatever it is, just keep doing it. If you want success, you need to prepare for it.
