If you thought your revolutionary idea was over the top, wait till you hear about Hold My Record.
Stan Oleynick was the typical guy next door living it up in Sacramento, California with dreams of making it big. So he thinks to himself,
“Hmm…changing my name to an advertisers name sounds good. Nah! Too much like eBay. How about if I try to break a world record after I’ve changed my name” - Yeah! That’s sounds crazy enough!
So was born Hold My Record. A once in a lifetime chance for an advertiser to get their name printed in the Guinness Book of World Records without actually doing anything - apart from paying Stan to legally change his name. The reason he is doing this is to finance a revolutionary internet product he is working on. The winning advertiser also gets a 10% equity share in that venture.
As of writing the high bid was $1,100, the Buy it Now price is $250,000. He will hold the advertisers name legally for one whole year. That means if he happens to break the record, where ever he appears after that, he will be referred to by your website, store, product name. The auction ends October 1st, 2007. Visit the website to get more details.
Stan was also behind Enthem, a web startup that made jingles for websites. I won a free Enthem way back in the days, never actually got around to using it.
Update: I emailed in my bid, but it looks like my bid of $1,200 was upped by the time I emailed Stan about it. Oh well!

Wow, the bid is up to $16k now! The producers for the new Superbad movie should bid and have him change his name to McLovin.
