ObuSearch.com is an Arizona based SEO/SEM company and they have a 5 part SEO Guide, this review is sponsored by them.
The SEO guide is divided into 5 parts and covers the basics of the SEO and SEM industry. Even though they are an Arizona SEO company the context of their site pretty much applies to any webmaster anywhere in the world.
Lesson 1 begins with probably one of the most asked question on the internet. How do the search engines rank websites? The guide starts of by giving examples while illustrating the basic concept behind trust, relevancy and authority and why top rankings should matter to you in your relevant niche. For those looking at SEO for the first time it might be an eye opener. I liked how they gave the statistics for clicks based on ranking.
Here is a general rule of thumb for the distribution of clicks on any given first page of organic results. Starting from #1 - #10: 35%, 15%, 7.5%, 5%, 2.5%, 2.5%, 2.5%, 2.5%, 5%, 10%.
Progressing on with the lessons you see that a lot of information is given away. If you run your own blog or online business and haven’t done much to optimize your site then going over this guide will set you on the right track. Most probably you may already read or heard of this information somewhere else, but the way it’s presented here in a 5 part mini-series is probably what will compel you to actually implement the tips mentioned.
They also stress on social networks {which are becoming more prominent by the day}, SEM and generally improving your website to be more search engine friendly by using less code and more such practises.
Apart from their SEO Guide they also have other sections on the site which might interest you. SEO Myths, SEM Myths and their own personal case studies. The SEO resources section didn’t have anything new that I haven’t seen yet, so they could use more in that department.
Overall I found the SEO Guide quite useful and recommend it to anyone who hasn’t done much on their part concerning SEO. I’ve read it myself since it’s been sometime since I’ve done any of it for my own sites. It’s probably time I re-visited my affiliate sites to brush up and fix anything that needs fixing.
If you’re in the Pheonix area, then ObuSearch offers Phoenix SEO services. But I’m pretty sure they’ll take you on as a client even if you’re not in their area.
