The Scourge Of Spam Affiliate Marketing Companies
I’ve been doing affiliate marketing for over a year now, with mixed success. I’m now in the process of learning as many tricks of the trade as I can to maximize my potential with it, while building another niche site alongside. There’s a lot to learn and a lot to be careful of. The most important being to be careful of affiliate companies that spam you with unrealistic offers.
Choosing a good affiliate company to use for promotion is one of the most important steps in affiliate marketing. I know because I learned the hard way. One of the networks I’m with, which is a very popular one, hasn’t converted well for me at all. The main reason being the sites that they have as part of their network just didn’t convert for me no matter how hard I pushed. I signed up with another popular network and this time I had success. Clicks were finally converting, this was mostly thanks to the fact that the sites in their marketplace were very highly targeted for the niche I was in.
If affiliate network A has site 1 and 2, which are very popular on the net, they probably will not convert well for you. Why? Because they’re too well known and people just bounce when they’re taken to them from your site, that’s the conclusion I came to at least. And…
If affiliate network B has site 3 and 4, which are not that well known, have more of a niche in their area and not that popular on the net. Then you have a higher chance of conversions than with site 1 and 2 from affiliate network A.
That isn’t to say that affiliate network A won’t work. You’ll just have to target the niche sites that they have.
Sorry for getting off track, but I had to explain it. Here’s why, because sometimes you’ll get emails from other affiliate networks that promise you high payouts with their sites, dedicated managers, blah blah blah. Never take their word for it, or the 2 - 3 “testimonials” they keep repeating in an animated gif on their front page.
Research them, just do a search of the network along with the words “scam“, “complaints” or “problems“. Usually you’ll find your answer with “scam” itself. This is something that happens to many, many people and they get burned out and get disillusioned with affiliate marketing.
I make a good portion of my online income with affiliate marketing and learning more about it has taken me a year, thankfully without getting scammed. I hope you are more successful in a shorter amount of time and don’t get scammed either. Remember, just do your research first.

Great post..I’d like to get into affiliate marketing myself, and I can see your point.
Good tips! I’ve been in the affiliate game for several months now and have had a pretty miserable time of it. Not much success, but I’m not throwing in the towel just yet.
I see the point… I have tryed some affiliates and not much success maybe because I picked well know affiliate program.
I agree, one should always do the research. It’s a shame that so many are willing to spam others (short term thinking) and thus hurt their brand. It’s a shame indeed.
