Because Hard Drives Aren’t Forever

You know running an online business with a blog and a few affiliate sites gives you a lot of personal freedom. Most of the time you take it that everything will run as it’s supposed to. Until one day you experience the worst thing imaginable, your computer dies on you!

I’ve been shopping around for a good data backup service for quite some time now. A lot of data that I have created over the years not just belongs to me, but to my clients as well. Who usually come back at timely intervals to get some more work done. True, most of the work is web related but I can’t even begin to imagine the pain for myself if I have to rebuild all that data from scratch if God forbid something happens to my system.

There are solutions though in place which can make your life easier. First Advantage offers hard drive data recovery services in case your system experiences any of the following.

  • Unable to boot
  • Virus attacks
  • Inaccessible drives or partitions
  • Unable to run or load data
  • Data corrupted
  • Hard drive failure
  • Hard drive crashes
  • Fire and water damage
  • Surface contamination and damage, or
  • Accidental deletion of data

Now of course, you’re saying to yourself but there’s software for this kind of thing. True, but in those rare instances when even the geek squad says – “I’m sorry, there’s nothing we can do. We have a sale going on though!” Those are the times when you wish you knew about people like these.

They are able to recover data out of a full range of hard drives and various operating systems from various manufacturers. The cool thing I found out was that they make a clone of your hard drive using drive sector cloning and then work out the best solution, to retrieve data, from the clone itself. Doing no further enhancements to your actual hard drive till they diagnose the problem and let you know that they can fix it. Once you give the go ahead they begin working. Backing up your data on media of your choice from CD-ROM, DVD etc…
For businesses, they provide raid data recovery, MS SQL database recovery, file system recovery among other services.

Overall, I think services like this are ones that you shouldn’t bookmark on your browser but rather write down the name, phone number and address on paper. Because when your hard drive fails you can’t look at your browser bookmarks! ;)
