Technorati Gives Top 10,000 Blogs An Ego Boost
Technorati is recognizing the Top 10,000 blogs by giving them a little badge, aww ain’t it a cute little thing. All blogs that have a ranking of 10,000 and up will see it next to their blog profiles.
EverybodyGoTo.com is in the Top 5K, as you can see, and the next highest I believe is when you get into the Top 1,000. I was thinking to myself why don’t they expand the number of blogs instead of just giving the Top 100 recognition. You’d think with 70 million blogs it’s only fair that at least the Top 10,000 get recognized.
I have the same beef with Alexa, instead of just showing the top 100,000 sites daily traffic rank they need to expand to at least the top 500,000.
Advertise on a top 5K popular blog as ranked by technorati, hurry only one banner left and you get a free anchor text link as well. Text links also available.

I think the main purpose of Technorati is to provide an ego boost to bloggers, is it not?
The number of people that start link trains and favourite trains and who knows what other type of trains in order to get higher rankings in Technorati seems to know no bounds!
It would be an interesting development if sites such as Technorati could somehow measure the strength of a blog on the basis of its content rather than the number of links the author is going out and getting.
Thoughts?

I think that’s where Google, and other search engines, comes into play and give you results based on content rather than just when a certain topic was last mentioned.
Technorati is a tool for finding various topics among blogs and giving you relevancy on that. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it doesn’t provide you content, you can just filter out via authority and read what you want.
And yeah those link trains are just a pain, great for when you are starting out to get some links in but then it gets to a point where enough is enough.
