Microsoft has announced Surface, a computing technology that is able to recognize physical objects and provide a level of interaction never before seen on as simple a surface as a coffee table.
You can wirelessly send information like photos, videos and content between two devices, that are capable of accepting it, simply by placing them on the same surface. Interaction goes to a whole new level with this kind of technology that is literally at the tip of your fingers.
For the beginning they plan on targeting hotels, entertainment and companies looking at giving more of an experience to patrons for their establishment. But expect to see stuff like this make it’s way into the average consumer household within a year or two of it’s initial launch, which is slated for the end of the year.
With all the acquisitions going around of the big 3 {Microsoft, Google, Yahoo} there have been some exciting product launches from the 3D maps of NY city in Live Maps, to Google’s Street View on their maps, and Yahoo…well they pay YPN publishers via Paypal now.
Surface though is the most exciting news so far from all the big announcements in the past month. You just have to see it to believe it, visit Microsoft Surface site. Video below, RSS readers may have to click through to blog to view.
