So if you don’t know already, Google has acquired Feedburner for a cool $100 million. It’s amazing to know that whenever Techcrunch talks about a rumor it somehow always comes true. I think Arrington is the Anti-Christ.
So what are the implications of this to hundreds of thousands of feedburners across the world? Well, nothing really. Your feeds will keep serving your subscribers like usual just now with the power of Doubleclick and YouTube, along with a sample of your DNA, Google will serve you exactly the type of ads they think you will click and convert for the advertiser.
So expect to see video ads from YouTube and banner ads from Doubleclick’s inventory make it’s way onto your feeds and your site. Congratulations to Feedburner, your service rocks!
I’m going to try my hand at this rumor thing and see if it comes true. I’ve “heard” a totally unsubstantiated rumor that Google is looking to buy Eurekster the web startup that lets anybody build a vertical community web search system. There, now go buy it!
