A new WordPress plugin designed to help you manage your own text ads inventory has been released and it is aptly called WP Text Ads.
The plugin aims to take away the middle man and provide the blogger a self controlled environment to sell text link ads directly to advertisers. It retails for $127 per license, there is also a free version that is limited in scope which only allows you to sell 2 home page ads, 2 blog wide ads and 2 per post ads. Buying a license will remove these limitations.
The FAQ and documentation are well laid out and the developer answers all questions you may have about the product. Their is also a forum you can go to for general help, discussions and feature requests. He also blogs and sure enough the plugin was installed on his blog check it out and give it a try to get a feel of a demo.
This is just like that other plugin that allows advertisers to buy direct sponsored posts on a blog, though I think most people did not cozy up to that one very good. This one though might have some different reactions to it, as it is only meant for text link ads and not whole posts.
Blogitive also recently launched their own plugin to sell text links on a blog, only they call it the Blogitive Directory Network. I call it selling links on your blog.
The negatives of these kind of plugins is for bloggers to find advertisers who actually want to buy a text link ad. The positive side of marketplaces for blogs and sites is because any potential advertiser would probably find you there first, rather than chance upon your blog and look into buying an advertisement.
It is quite hard to get direct sales in today’s internet as the marketplaces also tend to offer metrics and other data that an advertiser might be interested in.
So go ahead and feel free to download the free limited version and give it a try. The developer though does offer an -
“Unconditional 180 days money back guarantee. I don’t want to keep your money unless WP Text Ads pays for itself.”

Thet sounds like more money for us, but sometimes the middle man is doing the advertising and that is good for us.

Hi,
I’m the developer of WP Text Ads. Thanks for writing about it.
The issue of connecting advertisers and bloggers had weighed on me in the last version of WP Text Ads.
With version 1.1, I’ve launched the Marketplace. It should help advertisers find bloggers much more easily now
