Watch Streaming Movies and TV Shows Online with Graboid

The future of video content is online. Graboid.com is going to offer free streaming movies and TV Shows online.

The fellas behind this startup are saying that this isn’t a peer to peer thing so I wonder how they plan on streaming tens of thousands of movies and TV shows across various genre for free?! At time of writing their were only 389 beta invites left from the 1000 that are offered. So my advice to you is too run and sign up now! Free is always good.

  1. Wow, guess I signed up just in time :D

  2. So, I received an invitation, the email looks a lot like a spam:

    ====
    Subject:
Graboid: you’ve been invited to sign up

    Body:
You have been invited to signup for Graboid Beta.

To accept the invitation, click the following link: http://www.graboid.com.

There are only [3-digit-number-here] spots remaining!

    Who invited me? And why?

Looking up graboid.com whois information tells me only that they used godaddy.com to register the domain…

On the website, it says © 2007 Fusenet Inc. without any link to the company’s website, no “about us” link either.

On the blog, 2 posts signed by “Ryan” and “Sanjay”: one asking you to believe that they are not a mpaa honeypot, and one telling that they are setting up some big servers because they are not using p2p

On the FAQ they attempt to answer the questions “What is Graboid?”, “How do I download?” and “Where do I sign up?”, but not one word about the most important question: “Is it Legal in the US?”

Something don’t smells right here, if they are not p2p, this means that they will be serving this “29447 movies and shows” themselves, and if that is the case, giving the benefit of the doubt and for a moment assuming they are not an mpaa honeypot, either they have the permission to distribute everything(possibly charging+maybe a deal with CBS and others) or they are running the service in a somewhat controversy/obscure/illegal way (servers on sealand :)) and this is the reason for hiding up details about the company…

In any case, no thanks for now, waiting is the safest bet here.

  3. check out also http://www.fnuz.com there are plenty of websites where you can watch movies, cartoons, animes, tv series online for free ;)
    enjoy

  5. I just stumbled on the site and it is tempting… I got as far as the agreement which says several times that they will use my bandwidth to provide content to me and others.

I don’t know what the mpaa honeypot is that coconut refers to, but should I be concerned about unwanted access to my pc if I use the graboid software?

    Thanks.

  10. So I am a member at graboid. And yes graboid is legal…I understand how they work and there is no law suggesting that they aren’t legal. They don’t host anything, they aren’t using links to other websites either. The pratice they use is older than the internet itself. But the end result, if you can not figure it out on your own, is just enjoy it…cause its the best thing out there right now and may stay that way for a while. It works, so be happy!

  28. I upgraded as of 8/5/08 to Graboid Gold plan for 29.99 and it has been malfunctioning every since. Wasn’t surprised today when I attempted to open it up and it no longer exist. WOW!!! Then when I went online to their website, it no longer exist either. What’s up with that. Good thing I paid through paypal. I immediately cancelled. What a rip off. You may wanna stop advertising Graboid. Is there anything else to watch shows/movies on, that is reliable of course?

And when I go online to their website, it doesn’t come up. It’s saying that there is not website by that name. What? Have they just disappeared? Ran off with lots of money. Well, I cancelled my subscription with them as of today. Can you tell me if you have been able to open Graboid today? Or anyone else…have you guys opened your Graboids today?

I am going to say loud and clear…

GRABOID USES PAYPAL SERVICES AND FOR THAT THEY (AS A COMPANY) NEED TO BE LEGAL..

been with them since Beta V0.9 or something. and i always get 700Kbts my internet is dial-up up-to 4MBs.
