The very popular Text-Link-Ads and increasing in popularity ReviewMe need an overhaul of their services to make things better for publishers, so that they can increase our chances of making money. It’s no secret that many bloggers and website owners run multiple blogs and sites.
As an advertiser it gets kind of tiresome to wade through all the sites sometimes when there can be as many as 20 pages to look through. This means lesser chances of the small guys selling links.
For example I have another site that has sold out its 10 links quota since last month but this blog has yet to get a buyer for text links. { here is the link to my package in case you are interested } Now perhaps one of the advertisers who bought a link on my other site would have liked to also buy a link on this blog due to its popularity.
But they would never know about it unless they were
- shown my other blogs, along with related blogs, at checkout
- maybe offered a package deal for all of my blogs/sites together
This would greatly increase mine and everyone else’s chances of selling more links. Plus of course more money for TLA.
The same should go for ReviewMe as well. Let bloggers combine their blogs so that advertisers can buy probably two reviews from the same blogger. Some bloggers like to split what they talk about between two or more different blogs, so say if I talked about Web 2.0 here my other blog only talks about affiliate marketing. Both of these topics could be blogged on both blogs and could be bought for a slightly discounted price.
I know that Patrick Gavin is a reader of this blog and does visit whenever I mention TLA or RM, let’s see if he visits this time and leaves a comment, What say you Patrick?

Hey Ali J, thx for the suggestions. I am not sure how fast we will act on them but I do have some good news for TLA and RM publishers…
TLA - Wordpress publishers will be treated to a brand new way to make additional cash this week.
RM - a brand new way for bloggers to make money.

You’re right about this one, Ali. On Text Link Ads it’s sometimes hard to find ever your own site, which raises significant doubts at how an advertiser will find it, except by chance. Furthermore, some of the categories on Text Link Ads are either overlapping, or the categorization is weird. For example, the Web 2.0 category is not under Technology or Computers, but under blogs. I found it only after careful examination.

Yeah, when I was buying some links it took me forever to browse the marketplace and in the end I got some weblogs that hadn’t been updated in quite some time. Patrick was nice enough to issue a refund for that though.
So I think if they can make browsing their marketplace a bit easier along with the suggestions above I think it might be much better than it already is.

I think a package with TLA is a good idea.. but with ReviewMe, getting two reviews from two different blogs owned by the same person seems kind of silly…
I would think that advertisers want different reviews… unless they were doing it purely for SEO.
