Interview with Ted Murphy, PayPerPost CEO

I recently had the chance to ask Ted Murphy some questions regarding PayPerPost and the move forward, along with some other topics that I wanted answers too.

Here are the details, since I was limited to 5 questions I thought of the most pertinent ones that would be interesting to both advertisers and bloggers who are intrigued by their service.

1. How long before we see more mainstream companies accepting the online consumer generated advertising model such as payperpost?

Ted: I think you will start seeing more of these type of advertisers on board in as little as 60 days. We have had a huge amount of interest from big name brands and many of those campaigns are going to be
kicking off in the near future.

2. What is the BIG payperpost announcement?

Ted: Who said there was only one ;) There are a few big annoucements we will be releasing within the same timeframe.

3. Do you think it is fair to offer some bloggers a set minimum monthly payment as opposed to just having them be part of the network?

Ted: Yes, if the traffic and advertiser desire can justify it.

4. How much do you see payperpost accomplishing in the industry in the coming year?

Ted: That is a tricky question because that can be measured in so many different ways. 2007 will be the year of mainstream advertisers and that will be a huge accomplishment for us.

5. Do a lot of your advertisers become repeat clients or are they just one time tryouts?

Ted: The overwhelming majority run more than one opportunity. We have some advertisers who have made nearly 50 deposits in the past few months.

I was wondering if any of my readers here are a part of the network. I personally see this medium as a good way to monetize your online activities such as blogging, the bottom line here is that nobody is compelling the blogger to write views they don't really want to write as the blogger is free to choose which opportunity they want to accept. Upon acceptance though you have your guidelines to follow, which again you should have read before you said yes.

A lot of the past press has been negative towards it and I don't see why. Maybe with a discussion a better consensus can be reached.

  1. [...] One of my fellow posties was able to ask Ted Murphy (you know, the PPP head honcho) a few questions.  If you want to read the interview, click on  Everybody Go To.   I found Ted answers very interesting.  I also have to admit there were some great questions asked considering that you were only able to ask five.  I hope I come across a few more posts like these today!
