OpenID on Wordpress, My.Netscape, Auction Ads
Wordpress.com has decided to adopt Open ID into their framework, this comes after Kevin Rose announced at the FOWA in London that digg would be adopting OpenID. Now it would be really cool if they could somehow make all wordpress.org blog themes come with a auto update feature so I wouldn’t have to update all the time. My gut instinct told me to hold off on updating with WP 2.1 and look it’s already WP 2.1.2.
Netscape unveiled their latest featurette with My.Netscape.com (they’re not worth the link). Trying to break into the personal portal start up page market they make a pathetic attempt at trying to copy the leaders like netvibes, pageflakes et al. Whatever happened to new and innovative. If you cannot bring out at least ONE new unheard of feature with a relaunch then don’t bother yourself.
A new type of way to monetize your site/blog has been launched by Shoemoney and MediaWhiz (the guys behind text-link-ads(aff) and reviewme) and it is called Auctions Ads. The ads are placed on your website and they have affiliate links to live eBay Auctions. Right now anybody can join and place the code anywhere they want. Minimum payment at time of writing has been set at $10.00 via paypal. Visit Auction Ads for the whole deal.
