Everybody knows about the Google Dance, that is when Google decides through it’s “algorithm” that your site is not worthy and swipes it from the SERP’s. You literally drop out of search engine results in a day and then it’s back to the drawing board for you, to get your site spidered for the SERP’s again. So dancing with Google can be really bad for you.

But the Alexa Dance is good. This dance is when once a year a website/web service goes off the charts and gets so much traffic that they are catapulted to the Top Mover’s and Shaker’s list. This happens every year at the same exact time. So here’s 5 sites that I want to show you who get traffic spikes at the same time each and every single year.

Oscar.com - Traffic spikes during nomination announcements and then for the actual event. 2006 seemed the most popular.

USOpen.org - Again consistent spikes of traffic. You can find similar spikes for all major sporting events for the respective times that they are held.

SantaClaus.com - He does a Ho! Ho! Ho! while doing his Alexa Dance. Notice how the traffic gets a gradual rise with the peak right in the 2 - 3rd week of December.

IRS.gov - As you can see some responsible Americans get started with their taxes early in the year and maintain a steady level till D-Day in April when all heck breaks loose.

1800Flowers.com - I don’t know what happened in 2005 but the spike there is more than the other years. Their spikes happen before Valentine’s Day and then again before Mother’s Day.

So as you can see going dancing with Alexa can be fun just don’t get on the dance floor with Google he can step on your foot - really really badly!
