PicSquare - Online Photo Sharing

Posted by Hyder on February 25th, 2007

PicSqaure is another online photo sharing web based application. Apart from the domain name which is partially premium they have very little going for them.

The layout and the look is sub standard and very amateur. For a service that has been a year or so up I think they would done better by now going by the trends in web 2.0 design. Being based out of India and the other web startup zimoz that I profiled, which looks good, I expected a bit more in the looks dept. when I first chanced upon them.

However not one to write them off I believe they still have room for growth and making their product a viable one.

At, Picsquare you can upload, view, share and order high quality prints of the digital photographs online. Create your own personalized photo gifts such as calendars, cards, mugs and T-shirts and get them printed and delivered to your loved ones, conveniently. Here at Picsquare, we have a experienced printing network and a reliable delivery channel to send photo prints and photo gifts throughout India, at your doorstep.

Since they target their products only for delivery within India those of my readers that have family there would probably benefit from this service. The rest of the world…well I’m sure you’ve heard of Flickr, CafePress or SpreadShirt.

Maybe when they make their service available worldwide or at least some western countries it might do them and the rest of the world more good.

You can create your own profile, tag, share, order prints and get photos printed on products like calendars, t-shirts and greeting cards.

Give it a spin, picsquare.com

I found the Picsquare website quite adept and easily navigable for all that it advertises.Picsquare is a website/company certainly going a long way in the future. It keeps up to the promises it makes.

I do not know where you are based but I think you need to know more about how the world works and certainly it does not work the way western countries work.

An idea like that of PicSquare is an example of a web 2.0 service being adapted to India. In India recently there has been a spurt of usage of digital cameras and specially since now good phones can take photos that can be printed. In India it is a cumbersome job to get photos printed specially when there are only a few photos to be printed. It is then that a service like PicSquare will be handy.

Further I would also like to tell you the price PicSquare is very competitive and nearly half the price even if you are to add postage. A 4×6 costs 4 rupees at PicSquare and in the market typically you would be charged Rs. 15 for that and even if you include postage the service is actually cheaper than the market.

I agree that design of the web site can be improved but I do not agree that the web site is of no use and it is just another photo hosting service. I think the value of the business is in prints.
