Internet Marketing Monitor – Review

I did not get paid to write this. Right, that’s settled.

I first saw this site on the PPP system but couldn’t take the opp as well as they point out

The first thing about the experience that surprised me was the speed of acceptance of my offer…By the time I checked this morning, all 10 reviews had been written.  That’s a really fast turn around.

I wasn’t lucky the second time around as well, ah well. Then I see that they bought a review on John Chow’s site.

Reading some of the reviews taken by other bloggers and John I decided that why not give it my own spin for review purposes sake and see what I come up with. Just for a kick.

About IMM

The IMMonitor was created to provide all kinds of relevant internet marketing news, information and help for anybody looking to get themselves into the this arena. P.S – On the weekends please browse the archives, they’re humans not robots.

IMM is comprised of Matt, Derick, Mandy and Andy all of them have their own specific roles. Mandy’s a woman btw.

Content

The first thing I noticed is they have featured themselves on 3 major topics and have 37 categories. That’s a major attempt at trying to get into SERP’s, somehow it just seems to unfocused to me. Also I think they would be better off bunching up a few categories together or sub categorizing them with drop down menus or something. For the first time viewer it’s just too much information to take in one go and could prove to be negative.

The content itself is otherwise good enough.

I dived into the featured categories to see what’s up. The wordpress plugin that they offer called the “IMM – Glossary” allows you to create a customized glossary of terms. The plugin creates a master glossary page, links to terms within posts, and creates individual pages for each entry.  It also gives you the option of attaching a custom icon to linked terms.

You can create your own terms along with a definition, have the ability to display an icon and specify the number of terms to be shown per page and how many times it should be highlighted for every occurrence. I did install it to test it out and at first I thought it would link to the IMM page for every term in your glossary, well I was wrong. The plugin creates a separate area within your own wp blog with all the terms there.

The only thing is that you have to go to another area of the wp admin to set the terms and another area to specify the other things like frequency and icon (which didn’t show up in my test).

Overall a very handy plugin, but don’t really see the usefulness of it for more seasoned bloggers. Every product has its own niché area on the internet, it’s just not up my avenue but could be for you.

A suggestionIf you can somehow build some sort of way where we can include affiliate links as well in the definitions instead of text that might help with a wider adoption. Plus a pop up balloon would be better than going to another page as it kinda throws the reader out of sync.

Layout and Looks

I think the layout needs work. They have some obscure graphic in the background at the top which frankly is annoying. Colors are fine but too many again, maybe get rid of the peach in the sidebar with something else.

Also your RSS subscription thing needs to be more prominent maybe some text with subscribe and also it would go better grouped up with the “Email Feed” which is all alone near the bottom.

Final Thoughts

The site does provides some valuable information for those looking, provided you are up to looking. I think with a redo of the layout and better structuring of the categories they could really make an impact with commanding authority in the internet marketing world.
