Zimoz Update, SplashCast Contest and DormItem

Posted by Hyder on February 15th, 2007

Zimoz now runs on FireFox . They have finally been able to fix their application to work with FireFox, good on ya Zimoz.

Also it has become so much easier to send your postcards to friends. When you view a postcard , just click on Email to Friends and have easy access to your gmail/yahoo/aol/hotmail address book. No more boring cut and paste from address book - who remembers e-mail IDs anyway. So now share your great stories on postcards with whoever you want, and STOP sending emails with photos. Previewing is now available as well to cleanup and check your postcard before publishing it.

Lots of new zimozians wanted to know more about each other, and see the postcards created by friends. So they gave a new look to the My Postcards page and made the navigation easier.

SplashCast ends their Beta Contest for the video camera they were offering on launch. The service has now over 2000 users and growing everyday. People are using it for Tutorials, creating photo slide shows with narration, putting various YouTube and Flickr content to make shows and many more things.

The winners will be announced next week. Our coverage of SplashCast.

DormItem.com emailed me quite some time back just never got around to writing about them. But I feel now is a good time as you will probably need to know of a place to sell all your old textbooks and any extra dorm equipment you have when the semester ends.

They offer Free College Classifieds and aggregate classifieds from across the country, use AJAX and tagging, and offer free listings integrated with Facebook. You can sell, buy and eve look for jobs on their site and oh yeah, the page doesn’t refresh so don’t get alarmed it’s only AJAX.

They also have RSS feeds so you can sign up with that if you like.

We covered a similar service called Walamu earlier.

If you have any “news” of your startup/site or launch let us know, submit news.

That’s a wrap. Comments anyone?
