Start up page web application webwag.com is a fairly new service that is making headlines. It has the usual things that you expect in a start page like adding RSS feeds, searching through major search engines, weather, checking all your email from one location even a default Sudoku game in a window.
The thing that interests me the most is the way you can set up your own widgets. If you have seen how they make those widgets on a Mac where you just select a certain portion of the site and make it into a widget and have it permanently display on your desktop, well their nifty little piece of software does just that.
For instance if you go over to finance.yahoo.com and you want to just make a small snippet for yourself of the Market Summary, simply select the area that you want from within the pop up window that shows and save, that’s it you’re done!
You can then drag and drop it as you please where ever you like on your page. So far I have not signed up with any start page service from the numerous ones out there as well I never really got around to doing it. But maybe now is the time, once I set myself up with webwag.com I think I’ll do the same on a few other start services, compare and write a really long lengthy post.
An overview of their added-values are below
- Widget On Demand breakthrough technology: the first ever User Generated Widget, in three clicks and one mouse capture your create your widget from any site
- Search in my “personal wide web”: that is a search service inside the landing pages of each installed RSS feeds on your Webwag page.
- Sharing : With one click, a user can send a full content module via e-mail, so you can share your widgets through email with friend.
