How To Get Web 2.0 Names

I keep thinking how some of the new league of Web 2.0 sites out there get their names. My son bought a Pokemon sticker collecting book and as I was reading the names of the characters and applying the stickers when it hit me!

These critters have really cool names. But Alas! all the names had a TM next to them meaning that they were trademarked. Boo!

So I figured hey if you take two names and mix them up and jumble it up a bit you can still come up with some pretty cool Web 2.0′ish sounding names for your next killer web service/app.

So here are the pictures that I uploaded on flickr of a few pages and one that my son took, guess which one.

Some of the names these characters had were as such -

Ludicolo, Seedot, Wurmple, Silcoon, Lotad, Cradily, Anorith, Feebas, Starmie and more. Now most of these names would sound cool as a domain name but being trademarked you can’t use them as they are. So let’s do a little jumbling up shall we…

Wurmdot.com – domain available

Crastar – domain available

Feedily.com – domain available

Seemie.com – domain available

You could just take your sweet time to match up syllables here and come up with something totally original.

If you think of one that is completely original and bought it let us know. You might just have a winner. Oh! the video below is from my son beating Jaffar in Aladdin’s Magic Carpet Ride game available on Disney.com. I thought it might be a nice ending to the post.
