Many community sites such as popular forums and some social websites do revenue sharing with their members and users mostly through the use of Google Adsense or Affiliate Id’s.
Some of them are digital point forums, iwebtool talk, and most recently to have come in the news PlugIM.com a user submitted internet marketing community. For a bigger list visit this blog.
Now here’s the deal with these sites. You register and after you accomplish a certain criteria like amount of posts made your Adsense ID is randomly inserted into the Google code for where the ads show and if anybody clicks you get paid. Simple enough, you wish!
The thing is that sometimes admins set it up in such a way that if you are a new member your ad will only show say 20% of the time, now in popular forums the chance of your Ad ID being shown at the right time to the right person who would eventually click on the ads is like 1 in a 1000. Which is fine because most of the popular forums get at least many times more visitors a day. So you have a chance of maybe banking a click every week or so in the beginning till you begin to really get into it and your percentage is kicked up a notch. In some cases it is a set standard and doesn’t change.
Now here’s the bad things about this type of business.
First of all people don’t bother blocking out certain domains that are MFA (made for adsense) these type of sites have nothing there but more adsense ads. It’s quite simple to filter them out. Whenever you come across such a site just log into your Google Adsense account and add them to your Competitive Ad Filter and they will stop showing plus you won’t have to worry about getting only $0.02 cents per click and instead look forward to getting maybe $0.50 per click (it’s possible, trust me I know). Plus a more relevant ad will garner more chances of a click. Also remember to block out the mother ship itself, Google.
Second if you are by chance not logged in and see an Ad that is interesting and you go to click it…STOP! It just might be your Ad ID showing there. So not will you not get paid for the Ad, but you run the risk of getting banned altogether from the Adsense program for clicking your own Ad you thought was someone else’s. Remember to log in.
On forums the admins require you to post a certain amount of posts before your Ad ID starts showing, so unless you are really into the topics don’t join. You’ll save them some hard drive space.
Other sites like PlugIM.com, swicki.com, flixya.com, simpy.com, thisnext.com etc…start inserting your Ad ID or Affiliate ID from the get go mostly. Just make sure you read their terms and conditions before starting up.
